I Love Laem Sing!

I Love Laem Sing! - Thailand's best kept secret - Chanthaburi ThailandThailand's best kept secret

I visited Laem Sing for one night in 2006 and stayed for two weeks!

Love the place and love the people - we've been back several times since.

The great thing about Laem Sing is that there's no rush to do anything, and all day to do it. Watch out for the Nitnoi at Siri Hotel!

There's some great adventures to be had fishing, if that's your thing. Or just relax on the boat and let other people catch the dinner. I would recomend you ask for Phun (pun) at the hotel siri or at his restaurant at the harbour. He or his son will take you out for a full or half day, and being local fishermen they know where to go for the best catches.

If you want to buy extra tackle or rods there is an excellent value shop as you walk down to the harbour - A great rod with all tackle and line will cost about 400 Baht.

Going out to sea isn't realy an option during the rainy season, and even most locals avoid it. You can, however, go out on the Chanthaburi River if the water is calm.

Ask about life jackets before going on any boat trip if you want to use them. Don't assume they will be on the boat, as they might not be if you don't mention it.

If you don't have your own transport ask about hiring a motorbike. There is no-one advertising bikes for hire, but you can ask at your hotel and someone will probally be able to sort it out (drive at your own risk).
